Bio

Autumn originally attended college to become an Art teacher and quickly realized teaching wasn’t her passion but ceramics was. As a BFA graduate from Shippensburg University (2020), Autumn currently makes functional pottery part-time from her studio in Pennsylvania. Her ceramics branches off into two bodies of functional work in which she produces a line of painterly surfaces over dark stoneware and vibrant pastels over white stoneware. She sells locally and nationally through her online store and galleries. Between her full-time occupation in sales/interior design, pottery, and life she’s always keeping busy. When Autumn’s not in the studio you can find her gaming on her PC or practicing her new hobby, motorcycle riding.

Artist Statement

After each piece is formed, greenware turns into a canvas. Combining slips and underglazes each piece plays with color, pattern, and texture during the layering process. I’m often referencing images of nature such as florals, sunsets, and fruit arrangements to select color palettes. Unlike a painting on the wall, every pot must be held closely to be fully experienced. Providing an intimacy both visual and physical for the user. Many forget there is more than just the traditional way of bringing art into a home. Dishware is used daily throughout the day and if my pot can bring curiosity to the user for even a moment then my goal is accomplished.
